150 Suspects Arrested in Mombasa for Violent Robberies: Police Crackdown

NAIROBI, Kenya, April 25- Police in Mombasa have apprehended 150 individuals linked to a series of violent robberies in the city and its surrounding areas.

The arrests took place on Wednesday, April 24, at various spots within the Mombasa Central Business District (CBD).

A joint task force comprising law enforcement officers from both the police and Mombasa County conducted raids on the robbers’ hideouts located in Makadara grounds, Mama Ngina, Jalaram Feeding Centre, Docks Roundabout, and Mbaraki Cemetery.

According to a police statement, the operation, commencing around 11 am, resulted in the capture of 140 adults and 10 juveniles. Their hideouts were dismantled, and their primitive weapons were seized. Presently, all suspects are being held at Central Police Station.

Mombasa County Commissioner Abdi Noor announced that the suspects will face court proceedings tomorrow morning, Thursday, April 25th.
