NAIROBI, Kenya, April 24- An officer of the Kenya Defence Force (KDF) has been apprehended in Homa Bay County on suspicion of involvement in the violent killing of a 30-year-old man in Sino village, Rachuonyo South Sub County.

The KDF officer is alleged to have collaborated with two accomplices in the murder of Collins Okiro.

The arrest was prompted by circulating video footage showing Okiro being assaulted and subsequently murdered, with his eyes covered by a red cloth tied around his head.

According to Rachuonyo South Sub-County Police Commander Lilies Wachira, the KDF officer, accompanied by his brother and another individual, visited Okiro’s residence on April 7. They persuaded him to accompany them to an undisclosed location, leaving his wife unaware of their intentions.

Subsequently, the trio took Okiro to a secluded area where they fatally assaulted him.

Okiro’s wife later identified the KDF officer and his brother as the perpetrators, leading to a police pursuit. The KDF officer is currently detained at Oyugis police station, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the two remaining suspects involved in the murder.
