Online Clash Continues: CS Murkomen vs. Madowo – Competing Perspectives on JKIA’s State

NAIROBI, Kenya, April 17- Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen and CNN international correspondent Larry Madowo have found themselves embroiled in an escalating online dispute regarding the state of Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

The disagreement reached new heights as both parties clashed over the issue, with Murkomen accusing Madowo of amplifying negativity about the airport now that he resides abroad.

“Suddenly because he lives in ‘majuu’ his eyes are open and realizes that there is no shade when you exit JKIA. It is not news that JKIA does not have a canopy for shielding passengers, it is a fact.”

While acknowledging the longstanding dilapidation of JKIA’s infrastructure, Murkomen questioned Madowo’s sudden attention to the matter, suggesting that living abroad had heightened his awareness.

Madowo swiftly responded, labeling Murkomen’s rebuttal as a form of gaslighting and deflecting from the real issues.

“I didn’t “suddenly” discover how bad it is, I’ve been complaining about JKIA for 10 years. Thread of receipts in the comments,” Larry Madowo said

Murkomen, in turn, emphasized Madowo’s significant online following, arguing that as a recognized Kenyan working for a global media outlet, Madowo should approach issues with a balanced perspective and refrain from amplifying negativity.

“That’s what has served us for those years. What makes us different is that we celebrate our milestones even as we pursue excellence. We don’t just whine,” Murkomen said.

He went on: “Do you want to tell me that there is nothing good in JKIA? Do you want to say that the only good thing you saw with the Expressway is the few minutes of blocked drainage?”

In a further twist to the saga, Madowo shared screenshots of past tweets attributed to Murkomen, wherein he had previously criticized the poor condition of JKIA.

Madowo captioned the images with, “Bro, is this you?”

This move prompted Murkomen to respond, urging Madowo to reconsider his actions and referencing a biblical verse.

“You are still justifying your misdemeanors ? Bro you never get it. Read 1 Corinthians 13:11-12,” Murkomen said in response.
