Kenyans Slam CS Moses Kuria for Misleading Supermarket Tweet On Cost of Living

NAIROBI, Kenya, September 7- In a surprising turn of events, Cabinet Secretary of Investment, Trade, and Industry, Moses Kuria, found himself at the center of controversy after he tweeted pictures of discounted items at Carrefour Supermarket, accompanied by the caption, “It’s coming Dooooown, Down Down Down 🎶.”
While the tweet may have been intended to highlight lower prices and reduced living costs, it has left many Kenyans feeling misled and frustrated.
The tweet, which quickly gained traction on social media, sparked outrage among Kenyan citizens who accused Kuria of taking credit for supermarket discounts that he seemingly had nothing to do with.
Many netizens pointed out that the Cabinet Secretary’s role primarily focuses on policy and investment matters, not on supermarket promotions or consumer prices.

Kenyans were particularly incensed because the cost of living has been a significant concern for many households in the country.
Rising prices of basic commodities, including food and fuel, have strained household budgets, making it harder for ordinary citizens to make ends meet. With these economic challenges in mind, Kuria’s tweet struck a nerve with the public, who saw it as a tone-deaf attempt to downplay their financial struggles.
