Seven Suspects Arrested in Cocaine Seizure Operation Worth Ksh3.7 Million in Lamu

NAIROBI, Kenya, May 7- In an operation spanning various areas of Lamu County, law enforcement authorities have apprehended seven suspects and seized nearly 928 grams of cocaine valued at approximately Ksh.3.7 million.

According to a statement released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Tuesday, an intelligence-driven initiative by Anti-narcotic Unit teams led to raids on multiple residences suspected of being involved in illicit drug activities.

DCI reported, “Among the targeted properties was that of Muuna Omar Bori, where officers recovered a weighing machine and five pellets weighing approximately 85 grams. Additionally, a clear polythene bag containing around 164 grams of cocaine was confiscated.”

“At Shamuni Mwalimu Shamuni’s home, authorities discovered another polythene bag containing about 354 grams of the substance. Another raid at Fatma Mote Yusuf’s residence resulted in the discovery of cocaine weighing approximately 325 grams.”

The operation culminated in the apprehension of seven suspects: Nuura Omar Bori (34), Mote Mwalimu Shamuni (41), Shamuni Mwalimu Shamuni (41), Omar Mohamed Omar (23), Mohamed Abdallah (35), Fami Abdulrahman Mohamed (42), and Fatma Mote Yusuf (40). They are presently under police custody awaiting legal proceedings.

This crackdown occurs within the broader context of national efforts to combat the sale, distribution, and consumption of illegal drugs across the country.
