Wigan stated, “This urgent funding from the UK will help alleviate the suffering of those displaced and affected by the crisis. We stand with Kenya during this emergency and continue to collaborate closely with UNICEF, the government, and other partners to provide support.”

UNICEF plans to utilize the funds to deliver vital health, nutrition, and sanitation services through integrated outreach programs.

These initiatives include providing safe drinking water, temporary sanitation facilities, and hygiene kits to families displaced by the floods.

Shaheen Nilofer, UNICEF Kenya Representative, highlighted that the funds will enable the provision of emergency cash transfers and essential services to the most affected families, assisting them in coping with the impacts of heavy rains and flooding.

Nilofer emphasized, “When emergencies occur, children are the most vulnerable, and they are our primary concern… We appreciate the generous support from our donors as we collaborate with the government and other partners in responding to the flood crisis.”
