Seven Arrested in Bomet Gang Rape Video Case: Authorities Investigate

NAIROBI, Kenya, April 4- Police in Bomet have apprehended seven individuals linked to a gang rape incident captured on video and circulated on social media channels.

Bomet County Police Commander, Robinson Ndiwa, disclosed that the seven suspects were located in hiding spots within the Olbutyo area in Chepalungu sub-county and are presently undergoing interrogation at Chebunyo police station prior to facing legal proceedings.Ndiwa specified that two of the detained suspects, Anderson Mutai, aged 38, and Weldon Sigei, aged 21, have been positively identified as participants in the abhorrent act.

The footage, recorded last year, surfaced on social media platforms yesterday, with the victim yet to be identified or located.

“The incident was not reported to our attention. We are actively pursuing the case. The dissemination or display of such material is prohibited by law,” remarked the police official.

Area chief Edwin Barusei noted that the primary suspect, Anderson Mutai, was responsible for sharing the recorded clip.
