Public Service Commission Denies Appointment of Jacque Maribe as Communications Head

NAIROBI, Kenya, March 14 – The Public Service Commission (PSC) has swiftly debunked rumors circulating about the appointment of former Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe as the new head of communications.

In a recent statement, the Commission’s chairperson, Anthony Muchiri, clarified that no such appointment has been made, and the board has not received any formal request to employ Maribe.

“For the record, the said position will be filled through a competitive recruitment process should a vacancy arise,” Muchiri affirmed.

This clarification comes in the wake of reports just two days ago suggesting Maribe’s appointment to a department overseen by Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria.

These reports surfaced shortly after Maribe’s acquittal in the Monica Kimani murder case that had been ongoing for nearly six years.

CS Kuria was quoted by national media outlets seemingly confirming the appointment, stating, “It is true except that I am not the one who appointed her but the Public Service Commission.”

However, it’s important to note that for any appointment to occur, the PSC must first announce a vacancy for specific position(s), followed by the shortlisting of applicants who meet the necessary criteria.
