NAIROBI, Kenya, March 13- Unbeknownst to many, Joseph Irungu, known as Jowie, had deep roots in the music scene long before he hit the headlines.

As a founding member of the church choir Agape Stormers in Pangani Estate, his early involvement in music showcased his passion and talent.

Hailing from Nakuru, Jowie also served as a voice coach, demonstrating his commitment to music even in his hometown.

His journey began in 2020 when he released ‘Nishikilie’ shortly after securing bail from Kamiti Maximum Security Prison, where he spent time awaiting trial, the song marked a poignant chapter in his life.

Fast forward to 2024 Jowie unveiled ‘Nakuabudu‘ (I Worship You) shortly after being convicted of Monicah Kimani’s murder garnering over 300,000 views on YouTube.

And now in his latest release, ‘I Believe,‘ Jowie’s introspective musings have resonated with listeners, garnering over 55,000 plays.

Despite his incarceration, Jowie’s prolific output has raised eyebrows, prompting questions about his ability to produce music behind bars.

In a candid interview, he revealed a cache of over 20 recorded songs awaiting release, alluding to his determination to share his story and inspire others.

With tracks like ‘Babie,’ ‘Eyaah,’ ‘Juu,’ and ‘I Believe’ under his belt, Jowie’s YouTube channel boasts a loyal following of over 40,000 subscribers, a testament to his enduring connection with music and his audience.
