NAIROBI, Kenya, March 7- Law enforcement has initiated inquiries into a disturbing situation where a couple was found cohabiting with the decomposing body of their sister.

According to the family of the deceased, Rosemary Wahu was last seen alive on Monday, January 29, before her lifeless body was discovered in her brother’s residence in the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) area in Nakuru East.

David Kinyanjui, his wife, and their two-year-old daughter remained silent about Wahu’s demise until Wednesday, March 6, when relatives intervened and entered their home.

Gachoka Kanyone, a family member, described the unsettling encounter: “We arrived at 6. We called outside, and she opened, but they stayed about 40 minutes without responding, so we entered. His wife suggested we pray, and we did. Then she said, ‘Let’s go see the body of our mother.'”

The deceased’s son, Boniface Mwania, recounted their shock upon discovering his mother’s decomposing remains, while Kinyanjui and his wife insisted she would miraculously come back to life. Residents were drawn by the stench emanating from the dwelling as they screamed upon witnessing the horrifying scene.

“Auntie prayed and prayed, then said there’s a dead body here, but it will resurrect… and we were astonished. The body seemed to be about three weeks old. I don’t know who pulled the cloth, and we found my mother’s head as a skeleton, and screamed.”

“I asked my uncle, ‘How could he kill my mother?’ He told me not to worry; she will resurrect. Can you imagine my mom dies in the house, you eat and live here while her body is here? He said, ‘Don’t worry; she will resurrect,'” Mwania lamented.

Nakuru East Sub County Police Commander Mohammed Wako confirmed the distressing incident, stating that the couple is currently undergoing interrogation for clarification.

Wahu’s body has been removed for an autopsy to determine the cause of her demise.
