Police Detain Suspect in Mysterious Death of 19-Year-Old Woman in Kasarani Apartment

NAIROBI, Kenya, March 4- Authorities are detaining a 33-year-old individual in connection with the puzzling death of a 19-year-old woman in the Thome area of Kasarani.
On Saturday morning, March 2, Joan Mbula Nzomo was discovered deceased on the ground floor of an apartment where she had spent the previous night with a man identified as Lawrence Gitonga.
Initial investigations indicate that Joan was only clothed in a red t-shirt when she fell from the 10th floor of the White House apartments.
Reports from Citizen TV suggest that police are exploring various possibilities, including whether she was pushed, attempting to escape, or took her own life.
Upon arrival at the scene, detectives found that Joan had stayed in room J06, a short-stay accommodation, which was locked. They contacted the owner who unlocked the room to find an unconscious man with stab wounds.
The man had sustained eight stab wounds to his chest and back, allegedly inflicted by the deceased, as per his statement to the police. He was urgently taken to Uhai Neema Hospital, where police are monitoring him as they investigate the mysterious death of the 19-year-old.
According to police reports, the deceased had no visible injuries when she was discovered on the ground.
