NAIROBI, Kenya, February 27- On Monday evening, February 26, a tragic incident unfolded in the waiting area of a prestigious hospital in Nairobi, where a patient took his own life.

According to recent reports, the individual, identified as a 72-year-old man, had been brought to the hospital seeking treatment for an undisclosed illness.

However, upon being informed that the necessary medications were not available, the patient, overcome with frustration, resorted to drastic measures. Inside the vehicle he had arrived in, he produced a firearm and inflicted a gunshot wound to his chin.

This distressing event occurred in close proximity to the hospital’s emergency department.

Following the incident, law enforcement officers from the Industrial Area Police Station swiftly responded to the scene, securing it for investigation.

Tragically, despite efforts to save him, the patient succumbed to the severe head injuries sustained from the self-inflicted gunshot.

Authorities revealed that the patient held a valid license for the firearm used in the incident. As part of their investigation, the firearm was confiscated for ballistic analysis, and the patient’s vehicle was cordoned off for further examination.

While it remains unclear whether the driver who transported the patient to the hospital was questioned by police, reports suggest that the driver had promptly alerted hospital staff upon the unfolding of the tragic event.

These staff members rushed to the scene to offer assistance to the patient, albeit unsuccessfully.

Furthermore, it was observed that prior to the fatal outcome, the deceased had attempted to contact individuals whose identities remain undisclosed after learning of the unavailability of the required medications at the hospital’s emergency section.
