NAIROBI, Kenya, February 15 – Kenyan internet users are expressing strong disapproval over a recent video shared by United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominated senator Karen Nyamu.

In the video, Nyamu can be seen instructing her driver to drive on the wrong side of the road while heading to Parliament.

The footage, shared on her Instagram stories, shows Nyamu encountering traffic congestion on her route to Parliament. Frustrated by the delay, she directs her driver to use the opposite lane, bypassing other vehicles and even passing a traffic officer without objection.

Despite the evident danger to other road users, Nyamu boldly suggests that if her driver is breaking the law, he should do so confidently, stating, “If you steal, steal with confidence.”

The nearby traffic officer appears to passively observe Nyamu’s vehicle flouting traffic rules, with Nyamu implying that he must have recognized her urgent need to reach Parliament on time.

Nyamu’s blatant disregard for traffic regulations and her casual attitude towards road safety have sparked strong reactions from Kenyans on social media. Many have expressed outrage, describing her behavior as disrespectful and hazardous.

One user, Geofrrey Moturi, condemned Nyamu’s actions, highlighting the potential consequences of her recklessness. Another user called for Nyamu and her driver to be arrested and held accountable for their blatant disregard for road safety.

The incident has prompted a broader discussion about the behavior of public figures and the importance of responsible leadership. Some internet users lamented what they perceive as a culture of impunity among political appointees, underscoring the necessity of electing qualified and conscientious individuals to public office.
