Tourists Disappointed After President Ruto’s ‘Swimming Lions’ In Lamu Statement

NAIROBI, Kenya, July 11- A video of President William Ruto seemingly joking during his speech at the Safari Rally has resurfaced. He claimed that swimming lions could be found in Lamu.

“How many have seen a lion swimming? If you want to see swimming lions go to Lamu. There is a spot where lions swim. I encourage you to visit Kenya because of its uniqueness.”

Following reports on Monday that tourists were trouping to Lamu for the imaginary lions, Kenyans called him out for seemingly lying, as others said it was a joke.

Some Kenyans on twitter gave their sentiments in defence of the President’s statement saying that he meant Sea lions and not actual lions because they are only found in the wild.

The politician was addressing the crowd at Naivasha when he jumped on the opportunity to praise Kenya’s tourist attractions.

He touted the country as the cradle of mankind, saying that “This is where the first human beings were found; every one can call it home. It is unfair for other nationalities to have visas to Kenya.”

He then listed some exciting places one could visit in the country.

“In Suswa, we have the baboon parliament every evening at 7pm. They come and have a conversation about their affairs. Please visit Suswa if you want to see them. You can go to the Tana River if you want something to do with elephants. If you have never seen an elephant having a shower, please visit. We also have the historic wildebeest migration from Serengeti to Mara.”
