Joseph Irungu ‘Jowie’ Detained Until March 8th for his Sentencing Following Guilty Verdict in Monicah Kimani Murder Case

NAIROBI, Kenya, February 9- Joseph Irungu also known as Jowie will be sentenced on March 8 after being convicted of Monica Kimani’s murder.

Justice Grace Nzioka further revoked his bond terms and he was taken into custody pending the sentencing.

Jowie, has been convicted for the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani in September 2018.

“After reviewing the evidence presented in this case, this court finds that the prosecution has provided sufficient evidence and has met the required standard… This court concludes that the first accused person is responsible for the murder of the deceased,” ruled Justice Grace Nzioka.

Former TV news anchor Jacque Maribe, who was co-accused with Irungu, has been acquitted of the murder charge.

Regarding Maribe, Justice Nzioka stated: “In my opinion, the charge brought against the second accused person (Jacque Maribe) was inappropriate.”
