Infant Found Abandoned at Njukini Market Sparks Concerns in Taita Taveta County

NAIROBI, Kenya, January 11- Early on Thursday morning, an abandoned infant was discovered at Njukini Market center in Taita Taveta County. The baby girl, whose precise age is still unknown, was found on the doorstep of a green grocer kiosk at approximately 6:45 am.

Judy Kimeshinda, a 34-year-old businesswoman who found the baby, reported the incident at the Chumvini Police station in Njukini. Subsequently, the police have taken the infant to Njukini Health Center for medical attention and examinations, initiating investigations into the whereabouts of the parents.

Local authorities have urged residents to promptly report any instances of missing children or cases involving young mothers abandoning their infants due to familial pressures. Concerns have been raised about the increasing occurrence of child abandonment in the area.
